A rematch with Lara at 154-160 would be great. I don't think Oscar would allow it though considering what's on the line and how close the first one was.

GGG made a fight out of it with Monroe. I guess Canelo's team doesn't think he's good enough to do the same.

It's for the best though. No one wanted to see that fight. Canelo-Lemieux should be next but it's obvious Canelo is ducking Lemieux too. I think Maciej Sulecki is next, or possibly Andy Lee.

Never happening. Lara has no chance against GGG but against Canelo he could win and ruin the big fight.

They're not even talking about Lara. They're just saying "if we were to fight this style we would never fight, then we may as well fight the guy with the bigger name who has the style we will never fight again. But since we are never fighting that style again, we aren't fighting either of them."

That's what he means. Never say never of course but no, Lara is not in Canelo's plans for the near future. Plus Lara's manager said they are loyal to Showtime and Dibella said there would be "TV problems" with fighting GGG. Of course that's probably all just bull****, an excuse to duck GGG, and if Lara had another shot at Canelo, who they think he can actually beat, then all that would go out the window and they would go to HBO no problem. I'm just pointing out what they've said to show the apparent roadblocks and the hypocrisy relating to how all those roadblocks they put up to duck GGG would probably vanish in an instant if they got offered another shot at Canelo.

I hope not, but I don't really believe them. They also said that "Mexicans don't **** around, we'll fight right now" crap and it didn't happen next

Khan and paper champ Smith were already bad enough, they should not go lower than that to Monroe and Rosado levels. That's GGG territory

Willie soundly won but I remember watching the fight thinking I hope canelo does not fight him next.

He literally just stayed in his shelled position waiting on what ever rosado did. And before anyone says he is a counter puncher that is what he is supposed to do, I bet if rosado stood still in the middle of the ring he would too just waiting, I can't remember him leading the attack besides a light jab he would shoot every now and then.

Last night showed just how awful Monroe is. Had his hands full with a beyond shot Rosado and still couldn't hurt him or even put on a show.
I thought I saw talent in the guy once but I'll fully admit I was dead wrong.

Canelo should go after someone of substance; Jacobs, Eubank, Saunders. All fights he'd win. If he wants a tuneup, fight Lemieux. Easy fight and hbo did a nice job hyping David up in his last outing.

If the plan is really to stage Alvarez's next fight in December in NYC, Golden Boy/Canelo Promotions need to find a matchup that makes some kind of sense locally, limiting the options:

-Billy Joe Saunders (WBO 160 champ, East Coast location makes it easier for UK fans to travel)
-Andy Lee (Irish boxer, a play for the Irish American fanbase in the Northeast) -Willie Monroe Jr (**** style, but his roots in NY should help business a bit)
-Avtandil Khurtsidze (near no profile, but an exciting style matchup, also based in NY)

A Lara rematch could work (as a pure play to the core boxing audience in NYC), but the business that that fight does, unless Golden Boy can partner with some NY-based matchups to goose the audience, we'll see.

edit: completely forgot about Curtis Stevens (the profile of that fight is bunk, but Stevens has a name in NYC and fights in a style that would make for a good fight).

Stevens is more and more likely the more I think about it
