This is an award/appreciation thread. It highlights which fighters have the best punch in a category. Like always this is all matter of opinion and the punches are judged on versatile and not raw power.
Best Jab: Larry Holmes
This man probably threw almost every jab in the book and created his own in the process. Whether its the flicker jab, pawing jab, stiff jab, trip hammer, bait jab, etc. One of those few people who if you went late rounds with would puff your face up by the number of jabs he threw.
Best straight Right: Tommy Hearns
Its not secret that Hearns had the deadliest straight in boxing. But what made it so special was Hearns innate ability to disquise it. If you were to look at hearns knockouts it was pretty common to see his opponents out before they hit the floor. Instead of throwing his jab stiff every second he would paw his way in until his right hand reached it target but even if the jab missed he would often throw a stiff arm in there long enough for his straight right to come through.
Best left Hook: Walker Smith(Aka Sugar Ray Robinson)
Bar none. Not only did Robinson have blinding speed but if he let his hands with go he went into sort of a Sugar Ray Leonard frenzy where you're expecting not double but triple or quadruple hooks coming your way that all had the power to knock you out. Like Mayweather didn't require a jab to set up his leads and when an opponent didn't expect it...lights out. Watch Robinson fight Fullmer and see for yourself.
