Why was there more hype for Golovkin/Brook

Have you seen the types of fights the British have been supporting lately? Haye had massive attendance against two guys whose names I can't even remember. Of course Brook/ggg was bigger.
Canelo seems to have pulled a shockingly high attendance already though.

No one in the states knows Smith so there's naturally not much talk. Uncompelling fight that's getting more attention than I was expecting.

You need some rest if you think that Smith and Canelo are the same size.
The think is that Smith isn't really known outside the uk, Brook has his win over Porter and was scheduled to fight Vargas, so he is a more familiar face, also, vacating the title hasn't helped Canelo at all.

Canelo team made him run away from MW and they chose the least threatening fighter in a stacked 154 division for a worthless trinket. This fight and this whole event is a joke its basically GB telling the fans they don't respect you and hope that your emotions for Canelo make you want to spend 60-70 bucks for this doo doo
