am noticing a great trend in fighters from all nations becoming more defensivly respo

nsible. It seems like these days fighters are following from floyd Mayweathers lead and putting more emphasis on skills, defense and technique, and its not just exclusive to fighters from the inner cities of america, now we got cats who is taking influence from many past great slick fighters such as Kovolov who's been infleunced by JDD and B-Hop, lomochenko who is clearly influenced by the unique American defensive style, and not to mention alvarez who made it clear that he "learned so much from floyd, you even see the kid use the shoulder roll and its amazing to see how much he's learnt from Floyd since his fight. He made a damn fool out of cotto in there, straight mugged him with a shoulder roll followed by popping him with a mean counter uppercut.

in addition to this we got cats from cuba who is bringing another dimension of defensive responsibility with a unique brand of foot work (although there lacking in the american guard and inside game) that many cats (even slick americans) can learn from.

it truly is a blessing that floyd had such an effect on these upp and commers, they know that that rambo **** might be entertaining to the fans, but if you want longevety in the game you need to emphasise your defense first and formost.

Im telling you guys and been saying it for a while now. its just a matter of time before brawlers will become a thing of the past. these new fighters have a different mindset, they know theres nothing cool about taking punishment, for the same "fans" who will move onto the next one when you take your L and are no longer hot.

Its true to a certain extent. With all of the research about concussions fighters are not looking for "warrior" glory as much anymore. I can't blame them, boxing is brutal in terms of head trauma.

You could probably become brain dead from training alone, let alone being in several wars.

I like when I see boxers retire healthy and on top, and I think we will see more of that going forward.
