Wards use of the head in the Kessler fight was blatant at times. He was lucky the referee didn't even acknowledge it...I just have a feeling Ward will use the same tactics and frustrate Kovalev to the point where he makes too many mistakes. Hope I'm wrong and Kovalev wins...

JDJ is a funny as dude, Ward has one of the best IQ's in boxing! Ward and Hopkins are two different fighters but the version of Hopkins he fought was no where near his prime. Going into that fight I new Hopkins didn't have a chance against Kovalev because of things I seen in Hopkins previous fights. To say Ward has no inside game, I don't know what fights he's watched before but I've seen Ward fight on the inside and outside pretty damn good. Good luck to both fighters and may the best man win!

The referee will be crucial. Will James Prince pay off a crooked referee? He paid some thugs to beat up poor old Leonard Ellerbe, putting him in hospital.

James Prince, manager of Andre Ward, recently hit out at Floyd Mayweather, his former client, for his derisory comments about Ward. This brings to mind the acrimonious, and violent, split between P…

If Ward is allowed to use illegal tactics like deliberate head butts, then his chances are much better. He blinded Kessler, then he was easy to outbox.

If there's a fair and honest referee, Kovalev will win.

I notice lately (thankfully) Ward fans are starting to back off with denying Ward fights dirty. Thing is, he has enough talent to not do that, yet he did it for many fights. Like many have said, let's have a clean fight. Hope for a good ref who will keep order in the ring, and deduct points if Ward gets desperate and starts up his bu tt 'n grab crapola again. Kovalev has the tools to do this thing well, if he keeps following JDJ's instructions. Enough killing body shots, and Ward will crumble eventually.

Please friend, don't start in with the deflectorama. Obviously, Ward isn't the only one to fight dirty on occasion. But Maidana isn't the subject of this article.

Casual fans sound silly. Ward does not fight dirty because he ties up. Hopkins fights dirty, he intentionally headbutts and elbows and lowblows. I have never seen Ward get penalized or even close to it. He does not have a fan-friendly style to watch, now that is no question but he wins decisively and Kovalev will have to watch out for counters. Ward's boxing IQ is one of the best so sounds like John David Jackson better alter his fight game plan. Ward is a complete fighter! Kovalev is very, very good but not a pound for pound fighter.

Indeed, Ward fights just as well inside as out, I think this is all to sell the fight. I don't think Virgil hunter has said anything has he? I guess we'll have to get a trainer war since neither fighter are **** talkers.

Exactly. Ward is so dirty that most people can only name when Ward and his opponent, Rodriguez, had points deducted in one Ward fight. Kessler was soundly beaten by Ward....period. The headbutt excuse is pathetic. Ward was up by at least 4 rounds on every judges scorecard before the stoppage and no one is questioning referee Jack Reiss's integrity.

Funny how the entire boxing world recognizes Ward's skill and ring IQ.....except the haters who attribute his success to dirty fighting. Hilarious.
