2016 - TERRIBLE year of Boxing?

Is it me or has 2016 been one of the worst years in Boxing for a long time?

I don't feel much has happened this year, at least at the top.

    We've had a few good fights/matchups being made: Thurman/Porter, Ward/Kovalev, LSC/Frampton amongst a few other.

Joshua/Wilder aren't really fighting the best at the moment (I get why Joshua hasn't yet). Fury has had his issues and is fighting a rematch of a fight that happened a year ago almost. Mayweathers out of the game. Pac fought a rematch no one wanted to see and is fighting a guy no one wants to see. Khan and Brook instead of fighting each other and making HUGE money fight mismatch fights in alien weight divisions and get stopped both times. Chickenson is still being a chicken. 168 is just boring, seems like nothing is happening there. Lomachenko's progression/ascent has been stifled. Walters is literally wasting his career away. Broner is wasting his career.

Canelo and GGG seems like it's going to be another Floyd/Pac. Canelo is trying to wait till GGG ages and declines until he even thinks about going near there. No one wants to fight GGG, Lara is all talk, only says he wants to fight when GGG is signed to fight someone else. Saunders is holding the WBO belt hostage.

Whereas we have the UFC making fight after fight that the fans want to see. They had a card which just did 450k on average, and they felt that was bad for them. If we had anyone in Boxing outside of Pac do that, we'd say it was great. I LOVE Boxing but they need to step up their game, the powers at be.

It has been a stinker. I was thinking he other day the dry spell over the last couple of months has been ridiculous! Its match making mate, its ruining the sport! Everyone wants to hold onto there trinket version of the title or wants to protect there 0!

    Walters avoiding Lomachenko..

    All the SBW's avoiding Rigo

    Everyone at 160 avoiding Golovkin.

I mean whats happened to Garcias career?

Wilders bum of the month tour. Haye pretending hes relevant, Old ass Ortiz kidding everyone he's the truth! Fury & WK holding up HW!

Again no sign of the top 168lbers fighting each other!

Same with 154! Andrade & Lara etc They all just talk a good game on twitter ffs

Stevenson has almost forgot he beat Dawson & has begun a Wilder impersonation!

Only ones i really respect at the minute are Crolla & Frampton!

Good weekend this week but overall its shyte lately.

I don't think it's any worse than other recent years. I think it's just a true image of boxing today. More of a business than a sport.

Still, we're getting Kovalev v Ward to see who is the best LHW. Usyk v Glowacki might determine who is the best Cruiserweight. We had Porter v Thurman. Some other good fights like Santa Cruz v Frampton, Crawford v Postol for number 1 at 140. etc. etc.

It's no coincidence that boxing sucks since TBE retired.

No, just typical fan overreaction. Frampton/LSC, Kov/Ward, Thurman/Porter, Fury/Wlad, Roman/Cuadras, Salido/Vargas are all excellent fights. We should also get Golovkin/Jacobs and DeGale/Jack, but those are up in the air as of now.

You mention these fights, the UFC had their share of all of these top level fights on ONE CARD LOL. It took a long time to make Kov/Ward too and I believe Wards hand was forced too because no one watches him fight anymore.

DeGale/Jack should've been signed and delivered ages ago, what the hell is the hold up?

GGG didn't mentioned Jacobs, I believe he's more interested in the legit title that Saunders possesses.

Roman/Cuadras was a good fight but no one cares about foreign fighters who are the same height as their 8 year olds and don't speak English. It's a shame but that's the game.

Fury/Wlad was HORRIBLE to watch first time round for the casual, I loved it personally because it proved to me once again Wlad struggles against those who match him for size. Technically shouldn't even be having a rematch, first fight was decisive and it's just holding back the division especially with the delays and UKAD controversy.

Too much ducking and avoiding in 2016.

People like Danny Garcia and Danny Jacobs avoid the best in their divisions and fight bums.

People like GGG who are willing to fight anybody have to settle for lesser opponents.

Fury faked an injury to avoid the rematch with Klitschko.
