What would boxing be like without clinching ?

How would boxing be different if say clinching the first time was a warning and a second time was a point deduction.

Like the rules state no clinching is allowed in boxing and its illegal, and refs actually enforced it.

You'll get no answers with this respect -- slicks can't troll on "clinching"...

Wladimir Klitchko would have no career. He'd never be a HWT champion.

Be careful guys, I know you clowns like to pretend that slick (black) fighters that move do most of the clinching. that isn't accurate. Clinching is most often done by those who have limited skill and can't fight on the inside. those who can't defend themselves clinch often as well.

The main effect would be brawlers would almost never win. their trainers tell them to "go in there, make it ugly, grab, hold etc." If they get warned after the 1st time and then a point deducted, how would they "make it ugly"?

I agree it would have been terrible for Wlad and his jab and grab style of fighting.

                Exactly this.

Clinching in boxing is like hack-a-SHAQ in basketball. It's technically legal, but it should be abolished.
