With how Vargas' career was handled he should be calling boxers now & back in his own day p#ssies cuz he took risks & I feel had his own career cut short because of the hard fights he took too soon...at least according to boxing business thinking now & then.

Honestly it's smart of Canelo to not take on such a strong puncher like GGG right now. Let him get experience and learn more about the nuances of pro boxing before he slugs it out with white 160 Mike Tyson. Vargas fought a dangerous KO puncher in Trinidad when he was 22 and look where it got him, he was permanently damaged because he fought with his balls not his brain.

Vargas is just a hater! Canelo is using his brain and not getting it beat in like Vargas did.

No doubt Fernando was tru to his "Aztec Warrior" moniker. But he should be the 1st to know how taking on the best to soon can destroy your career before you even get a chance to reach your prime. Canelo just turned 26 by the time he's 27 he should be in his physical prime then and only then should he fight Lil G after all he has time on his side.

After Chavez, another mexican legend blasts Canelo... How humiliating! Boxing fans, let's keep the pressure on Golden boy's golden goose!.. that's the only way this fight gets signed, like with Trout.

Canelo has enough experience at this stage to challenge GGG, and hes at his physical prime.

The thing about Canelo and Vargas is they both peaked to early in their careers both physically and in popularity. Both should've grew into the sport before they got titles. Unless you are a bantamweight or smaller you should have no business wearing a world title before the age of 25. Once you wear that world title the boxing community expects A LOT out of you which takes a toll mentally and physically. Thats a big problem with boxing nowadays and even in Vargas time, there are too many titles being handed out before fighters can mature and prove they can fight all styles. Nowadays its about going after the lowest hanging fruit on the tree and stocking up for a cold winter. With a smart manager you can make money without having a world title.

Why do we keep blaming Canelo instead of Oscar? Canelo can want to fight whoever he wants, but Oscar will tell him who he is going to fight! Canelo is not the first fighter that has wanted to fight, but couldn't, until his promoter says so. I'm sure Canelo thought GGG was next, but Oscar said "not so fast!" It's not the mindset of today's boxers that's the problem. It's the mindsets of the promoters in the game!
