It's not the mindset of today's boxers that's the problem. It's the mindsets of the promoters in the game!
good post. and Canelo is campaigning at 154 at the moment, let that cat breathe and do his thing there.

Poor Vargas. If only he had people looking out for his best interest like Canelo currently does.

Fans don't like it, but they're not the ones risking their lives or potentially cutting short their earning potential. Boxing is a business first.

      End of story.

boxing is a business and vargas made very good money for himself at a young age with fights vs Trinidad, Oscar and mosley twice. He is well off and probably earned more respect in his loss vs Trinidad than Canelo has in any of his wins. It's rare that boxers have long drawn out 20 yr careers so sometimes you have to strike when the iron is hot like vargas did. Most fighters historically who were world champions in their early 20s were done by their 30s. Fighters peak at different times. Oscar can drag out canelos career as best he can but there's no guarantee that by protecting him, he's going to have a long career. Especially if he keeps physically draining his body to make weight.

Canelo just turned 26 by the time he's 27 he should be in his physical prime then and only then should he fight Lil G after all he has time on his side.
part of the reason he got damaged was his mind set of going toe to toe with a guy like trinidad. experienced or not he went in thinking he could eat those punches

The ballooning up in weight and melting down to make weight will take its toll and shorten a fighters prime. Ricky Hatton a prime example.

Vargas fought a dangerous KO puncher in Trinidad when he was 22 and look where it got him, he was permanently damaged because he fought with his balls not his brain.

Vargas is just a hater! Canelo is using his brain and not getting it beat in like Vargas did.
Nuances you say? He has fought Mayweather, Cotto, Trout and Lara. Is he a slow learner or something?

Difference was Trinidad was the money fight, big name, Vargas was like GGG the guy who was looking to prove himself and it benefited him to fight Trinidad more than it benefitted Trinidad to fight Vargas

Top 5 in Mexico? If GGG retires right now he will end up #1 in Kazakhstan
