Golovkin's last two shows on HBO, Monroe and Wade, did a 1.338M and 1.325M average. You have to go back to the Murray fight (which was also broadcast during the day), to find a time Golovkin went below 1M.

To act as if the time slot had nothing to do with the numbers in the Brook bout is really being ignorant.

That's why you have to combine the replay. A large chunk of his audience, likely that 500K that was missing, didn't get to watch the show during the day.

"legacy" and "star power" are 2 entirely different things. The question was about star power, not legacy. Beating Ward does nothing for GGGs "star power", because Ward himself is not a "star". Of course it adds to his legacy, but that is not what the conversation was about.......

i think it improves his star power actually. not like a win over mayweather obviously but people will become more familiar with golovkin. put it this way......who out there can really improve golvkins star power? cotto? canelo? apart from those 2 who's there? do you really think brook would improve golovkins star power more then ward? maybe in the u.k. but not with HBO or the untied states where he primarily fights. danny jacobs? Quillan? no.


along with that a ward win would GREATLY improve his legacy.

It's not Canelo's job to debunk GGG's own words that he will not drop weight to fight him. Funny how you fanboys of GGG take everyone else's words to the grave but when GGG himself not just his trainer or someone else says I WILL NOT NEGOTIATE WEIGHT TO FIGHT CANELO. I WILL ONLY FIGHT HIM AT 160. That somehow now isn't good enough for you? Canelo's camp has to draw up a contract for a fight that the other side is refusing to fight at Canelo's weight. LOL Canelo is the A side here you don't play games like this with the A side. Can't say well Canelo wasn't going to fight him at catchweight anyway so we refused to fight him at that weight. Only way to prove that would of been if GGG said yes I will go down in weight to make the fight. Instead it was like an idiot trying to bluff when he has a pair of 2s and the other guy has 4 aces. monroe & wade were fights that weren't promoted like brook & golovkin. actually they weren't promoted at all. brook and golovkin had major promotion from HBO. this was a massive event. so the time slots from that prospective doesn't matter. HBO actually put in heavy promotion for this fight & with that number it's a failure. i am still a little skeptical of the number because thats too low.

So you admitted they had less promotion but had bigger numbers. How do you explain that?

Is it because a large portion of people suddenly said "I'm not going to watch Golovkin anymore". It's possible, but unlikely.

Look, if the fight took place on HBO in a primetime spot in America. Let's say, Stub Hub or w/e. I'm going to predict it does well over 1M, just based off his previous numbers during a primetime slot with less promoted opponents. It would likely the same as the Monroe and Wade fights.
