I want to see how Canelo looks against Smith who is a solid 154 pounder.

If Canelo is to be competitive against GGG he has to be taking a good, tough fighter like Smith out and basically smashing him to bits. You're only as good as your last fight and all that and Canelo's last fight saw him get outboxed for periods of it by the chinniest top level fighter in the game who was campaigning well out of his weight class. And I thought the Cotto fight was competitive - I can't see Cotto being competitive with GGG at this stage in his career.

Canelo is class despite how Golden Boy are making it hard to root for him. But there are a few question marks about him.

Nelo knows what's he's doing. If he fought gg now GGG would beat nelo comfortably. In a years time nelo will imoroive even fractionally will help nelos cause.

But either way both fighters might not look too pretty for a few weeks after fight

Canelo may not move a lot but he has a good defense and countering ability. He does well slipping, rolling and parrying shots. For a fighter so flat footed, he hardly gets hit clean more than once at a time.

You don't have to be a mover to be effective playing defense. Canelo make his punches count and GGG isn't exact Aaron Pryor when it comes to punch output

I think it will be exciting and probably the best middleweight fight since Pavlik vs Taylor or Abraham vs Miranda
I'm not saying be doesn't have good defense. I just think to beat ggg you have to move and have power so he just doesn't bull you down. Canelo is pretty stationary but have pretty good upper body movements. I see canelo trying to weave and waiting to counter something that might not come. I see ggg jabs canelo to death and the corner throwing in the towel in the later rounds.

But like I said anything can happen in boxing and I might be underestimating canelo power or his sturdyness or his corner unwilling to give up and it might make it to decision.

I think its 55/45, 60/40 Canelo right now. Canelo hits hard himself, he's more elusive, he's got a higher boxing IQ, he's shown more patience with setting things up. I could see GGG fighting just like he did vs Brook & just walking in or I could see him being more careful & balanced like vs David, but either way I think Canelo's boxing IQ & diversity in attack/strategy will allow him to acquire the win. If Canelo somehow gets into a firefight or war with GGG the fight will be more up for grabs.
Those odds aren't the reality though. Book makers have ggg a 4/1 favorite. People gotta stop calling these fights 50/50 fights. Crawford postol was a "50/50" fight and Vegas had it a 7/1 favorite for Crawford. That was more than the 6/1 ggg had for brook. The fights that's close to 50/50 is ward kov.

he definitely has better defense and counter punching ability

just because a fighter may be overall better doesn't mean that they do everything better

Like MJ maybe the greatest of all time to some but he didn't have better handles than Iverson, didn't shoot 3's better than Miller or Ray Allen

if you don't think Canelo does anything better than GGG, its seems more like denial than reality.

GGG is a stalker a hunter, He excels at hunting his pray down

opponents have actually had success when they stood their ground and he usually hurts guys when they move away

              his defense inside is lacking

Brook did, even Monroe, Ouma was shot but he did as well.

GGG doesn't work guys over on the inside like Chavez Sr.

The problem for Canelo in this fight is, even though Golovkin will be the aggressor - which Canelo usually likes, he won't be looking to get inside Canelo (where Canelo has a clear advantage over Golovkin), he will be looking to get into a range where Canelo is on the end of his punches.

So for Canelo to get inside, he will have to be the aggressor, which isn't ideal for him.

It's a great fight though and definitely more competitive than people think, Canelo is underrated.

It is all well & good saying that secure in the knowledge that Canelo won't touch Golovkin with a barge pole! If only Canelo had your confidence when it comes to the three G's! You can sit here pumping Canelo up but he fought Khan instead of his mandatory Golovkin after telling people he was ready! This speaks volumes..

Golovkin might be the first to TKO Alvarez IMO He'l certainly beat him..

Oh no I wasn't saying those are the odds. I'm saying I feel like Canelo wins 55-60 times outta 100. So just like in the TC vs Crawford fight where I agreed with your take you clearly bet on Postol & in this case Canelo.
