Its very rare these days that we see 2 big names get on the ring together, it certainly doesn't happen as often as we'd like thats for sure.
One off the reasons is that when two big name fighters fight the loser is often written off and can find it hard to get big money, or at least this is what fighters seem to think.
Another reason is that fighters can make decent money taking easier fights and are unrealistic in their expectations money wise when a big fight is negotiated.
Fighters want really big money to fight other big names and the market just isn't there because too many fighters are not prepared to earn that money by beating the guys around them.
So it seems like Khan and now Brook have found a loophole.
The nothing to lose, no one expects you to win fight against a bigger guy. Which is great for both guys.
The little guy can lose and still see his stock remain the same or even rise because he was never expected to win and was brave to even try, while the bigger guy gets a near-certain win while being able make the good money you get from two big names fighting.
Now its nothing new to see a guy come up and take a challenge against a bigger guy but usually that little guy is a superstar and the dominant fighter from the lower division. In this case neither of these guys have fought many of the other guys on their division.
Do you think well see more and more of this and is it a really bad trend for the sport ?
