Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: Liam Smith Has a HUGE Chance of Beating Canelo!

Bolton star Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs) is giving WBO junior middleweight champion Liam Smith (23-0-1, 13KOs) a very good chance to upset the odds when he faces Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).

Smith will go some rounds, but Canelo's pressure should halt the festivities mid/late fight.

From I have seen of Smith, not bad off the front foot.

Going to be enough to keep Canelo off?

      I doubt it.

Smith battered Kell Brook in sparring too but Kell Brook is not Canelo. What was interesting is how he walked through Brook's shots like water on feathers. I don't see Smith as an underdog, this is a 50-50 fight but I don't see him getting a decision if he doesn't stop Canelo. Canelo got a split decision against Mayweather when he hardly won a round, I feel he lost to Cotto but got a decision so it's gonna be tough for Liam though I think he can beat Canelo.

They always talk about Smith being a solid Junior Middleweight problem with that is Canelo is actually a Middleweight fighting at JMW.

Cmon, Liam Smith is someone who has fought bums only, his best win is John Thompson. It is hard to believe he can compete against world class fighter like Canelo..

I'll pass on Khan betting advice. That said what f#cking plane of existence is Khan operating in whenever he talks boxing cuz this mfer seems like a great guy & reasonable cat outside of boxing, but its like he's goes 3 shades of ******ed when any boxing topic comes up.

how did smith batter brook in sparring??? don't you think a vetted 1 minute clip on the sky sports website of smith doin well was actually a tactic from the brook camp?????
when brook calls out the winner of smith vs canelo, do you not think brook knows something that we don't???? some people of here a genuine 90% down syndrome

The thing with Smith is we just don't know how good he is. All we can say is that he's beaten those put in front of him which is all you can do.

We can't really write off his chances just because he's never fought at a certain level because everyone has to make the step up sometimes. Everyone was in Smith's position once.

This fight will show what level he's at win or lose. Even if he loses, he may be able to show he's a good addition to the 154 division.
