Some of these fighters need to fight more regularly. Look at Garcia, his name hardly gets mentioned anymore, he's almost irrelevant. Thurman will too if he doesn't become active again.

But what's their motivation for being active? they know someone like Haymon will get them a cool $1m every 9 months fighting journeyman/washed up/average contender kind of fighter. They'll just wait it out until that happens or maybe land a big one, if not, no problem.

Haymon fighters mostly fight twice a year and Thurman just was in a one of the best fights of this year so far, he will rest well and mostly fight nov/dec..

Maidana agreed to fight Thurman then pulled out, the fight was set to be on HBO, on Broner's undercard.

Don't blame him though, at that stage Thurman was a prospect and Maidana would've made no more than 100k at most
