NO, Floyd would get destroyed if Golovkin came at him like that. He wouldn't have the fire power to keep GGG off him.

Mayweather is great, the best of his time but anywhere north of 154 is too big for Floyd against a top Middleweight. Even 154 is a stretch for him but his skills will take him far enough to beat them there. Let's not forget he started at 130 (i think?)...
If Maidana could give him a lot of pressure, Golovkin would have broken him. And that's not a slight on Floyd, it's just an unfair fight for him.
The only people that believe that fight would be a fair fight to make are the ones desperate to see Floyd lose a fight.
I would never rule out Floyd winning of course, he is incredibly skilled and smart but 160 against a man that powerful is a step too far even for someone that good.

All that really matters is if you make them the same size, Mayweather would counter GGG to death, both in their prime. If different size, and in this day, the advantage Mayweather would have is he could see GGG's punches coming and if he used an air-tight defense and foot movement, it is possible. But the size and power could be too much and it is not even right to ask or expect a 39 year old Mayweather to face him.

the style that GGG fights has always been the most that would give floyd problems beginning from his 130 lb days vs jesus chavez to jlc upto maidana and it's the same reason why he ducked margo like a plague.with GGG's size and power and the only way floyd might even survive the fight is he it was the luckiest night of his life...Last edited by puga; 09-11-2016, 08:16 PM.

No. Too big, too strong and with a jackhammer jab that would roll over him. Mayweather would never take that fight, but I have to say I don't blame him. No one below 160 with so-so power in his right mind would ever get into the ring with the Gennady from last night. He'd relentlessly stalk them down within the distance. One thing about Golovkin is, he may smile a lot but he has a serious mean streak in the ring. There aren't many fighters out there in this age that would actually roll over an opponent with the reckless abandon he did. He just knew there was nothing to fear and walked through his opponent. Most guys want to be too technical about it. Neither way is wrong, but for a guy walking into everything, Golovkin did one hell of a job. He'd do the same to Mayweather at 160. Probably at 154 as well.

Golovkin to big to strong will just walk him down the guy is knocking out bigger men like nothing but some him people think Mayweather wont get hit when Medina was able to rock him all it takes is one from GGG to get the job done 154 is the max Mayweather can go LOL
