What we learned last night

1. GGG is a big, bad puncher but he looked off. If this GGG turned up against Canelo, the Mexican could squeeze a win.

2. Roman Gonzalez, at his absolute best (As he was last night in rounds 1-3) is the slickest, in pocket fighter, switching between attack and defense on the planet.

3. Cuadras is damn good and very strong. He took RG into deep waters like no one before. Cuadras v Inoue would be very interesting.

4. Gonzalez has a heck of a chin and real heart. He can swim in choppy waters.

5. Brook allowed himself to quit in the biggest fight of his career. Now he will get beat up by any of the top 5 light middles, which imo are the Charlos, Andrade, Canelo and probably Lara.

You keep saying Brook quit, his corner threw the towel in because he broke his orbital bone which in itself could plague him for the rest of his career. But atleast he survives to fight another day.

Golovkin looked off because he fought like a caveman. He had a hugely overmatched opponent in front of him, and the moment he hurt Brook he knew he had it in the bag. Before that he fought his typical way. Afterwards he threw caution to the wind and approached Brook with no respect. He wouldn't fight the same way against Alvarez, just like he didn't with any big punchers he has fought. I've never been one of the "Alvarez has no chance" people, but the Brook fight really shouldn't be changing minds. It was a joke fight that Golovkin treated like a joke fight.

I was hugely surprised by Cuadras's stamina. Dude took Gonzalez's best and was still moving energetically at the final bell. The fight ended up close and competitive because he simply had more left than Gonzalez down the stretch. Hell of a fight. Gonzalez looked incredible early, but I wonder if he wasted too much energy in the first half of the fight thinking he would wear Cuadras down. That approach backfired on him.

I was drunk as **** last night and couldnt hear sound at the bar i was in because there was some ****ty indie cover band playing, but that was how i saw the GGG fight.

He showed absolutely no respect for Brook, and Brook was able to have some succes because of that. But really GGG pretty much had his way and stopped the fight when he wanted it stopped.

I think he has flaws which match up very well to the skills Canelo brings, but that power is very real. The pressure is real. Out skilling him isnt enough.

Last time high profile WW went up to fight consensus MW champion, it ended up in split decision (Taylor-Spinks). Size mattered yesterday because GGG is perfect in utilizing his size and strength (and be honest - it is strength more than size)

I'd be pulling for GGG over Canelo (for the record)...but I think Canelo beats him. Likely even clearly, too.

Canelo's a better boxer than Golovkin. Has the size to match him. And as devastating as GGG's power is -- I don't think he's KO'ing Canelo. And if he don't stop Canelo I really don't see how he beats him.

Canelo is probably drooling at his prospects now of beating Gennady after seeing what he saw last night.

Look, give massive credit to Brook. Dude is very, very good. But even though he got the W, last night wasn't a real good look for GGG.

Canelo aint drooling at ****, he knows GGG is big and strong.

Plus, I feel many of you don't realise Canelos size. Forget what he weighs, he only stands at 5'7'' and isn't a genuine power puncher. Brook is taller and bigger so could match GGG f or strength on the inside. Canelo isn't good on the inside and at long/mid range, GGG will cut him apart.

Surprisingly I tbought both of the headlining fighters showed their limitations. Really good fighters both Golovkin and Gonzalez. Nowhere near as great as we've been sold on. Especially Golovkin. Would love to see him against a live opponent like Cuadras.

Every fighter as limitations and personally I dont think either guy is truly great but, when they're on their game, they are two of the very best the sport has to offer in this post Pac/May/Oscar/Hopkins/Wlad era.

Because he did. Brook didn't want any more of the fight and his corner didn't want him to be embarrassed in front of casual/ignorant fans so acted like they were the ones who stopped it. Roy Jones clocked onto that on the HBO broadcast, as did Lampley during the live relay and so did I who saw Brook shaking his head in the corner after the 4th. His corner said something like a "a bit more".

I've seen fighters fight on with broken orbital bones and a break doesn't mean the bone is broken in 2. Considering the lack of pronounced swelling, I assume there was a minor fracture, which I've gone through falling face first off a bike lol It's painful, you might not see well for a while but it heals.

Brook knew he could cash his check and with modern audiences, still be a hero. It's not the boxing I grew up with or respect.

Agreed but Spinks also had a fair few fights at light middle didnt he?

Oscar, Tito and Leonard beg to differ and thats just in my life time.

I think the scoring for RG v Cuadras was abysmal by Lederman, he didnt give him any of rounds 4-6,which is criminal but RG deserved the win.

The UK crowd was pretty dour towards the end of the Brook v GGG debacle, cant blame them but I agree, largely, we do have the best boxing atmospheres.
