The major things that are wrong with boxing

    1) Fighters fighting exclusively on certain networks- Let's keep it real. These networks like HBO or showtime don't have Boxing's best interest. These networks sign multi-fight deals to fighters so they can secure them to fight exclusively on their network to make money and get good ratings. They will often hype up their own fighters for personal gain. It took the biggest financial fight in history(pac/may) when they actually worked together but only because so much money was going to be made for everyone.

    2) Promoters/Managers/Advisors- We got guys like De La Hoya, Arum, and Haymon that rarely do business with each other. It happens here and there but it's never on a consistent basis. These guys don't like each other and rather keep things in house or work with a lesser known promotional company to make fights happen. If we have them consistently working with each other, boxing will be in better hands.

    3) Fighters themselves- Well let's be honest. Fighters back then were just tougher and fought whoever they put in front of them. Fighters today are too self-entitled. A lot of fighters look for the biggest payday with little risk. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for fighters getting paid as this is a tough business to be in but it would be nice every one and awhile see these fighters test themselves against the best in their own division or around their division. This is how we find out who really is the best.

    4) Corruption- Now there are different things that have happened in boxing that is corrupt but I'm going to focus on the judges who judge fights exclusively. What can turn off fans expecially is bad decisions or robberies that occur from time to time. I understand boxing is a very subjective sport but we have seen decisions that were flat out disgraceful. There needs to be suspensions or flat out banning these corrupt officials but of course no one is doing anything about it.

Thoughts? Anything to add? Do you disagree?

Sanctioning fees fighters have to pay to sanctioning organizations for every title defense, this is the main reason why fighters don't want to unify because the more belts u defend the more sanctioning fees u have to pay, so promoters try to have as many champs as possible so that the revenue from each fighter is sufficient to pay the sanctioning fee for that fighter, but if only 1 fighter has all the belts then he has to pay 4 times the sanctioning fee per fight which is a financial disaster for the promoter. U had the WBC requesting almost a million from Cotto to fight Canelo and if every sanctioning fee demands somehting like this then the fighters won't have a purse anymore. The WBC were so thirsty for the sanctioning fees that it took them a long time to take actions against big name fighters.

Promoters not working which each others, network deals with fighters stating they can't fight fighters from other networks, networks not trying to work together, American fans not supporting American fighters and the list goes on and on. A lot is wrong with boxing and all of these problems can't be fixed in 1 day.

I agree with everything except for the part about the fighters being scared of other fighters, these fighters fought everybody in the amateurs for free and did that for more than 100 times, they've seen it all in the ring and I don't think a fighter could be scared (there are exceptions), however the promoters and matchmakers are the ones who control the game and sometimes they don't want to take the risk or they'd rather wait until the fight is big enough so that they can make more money off of it.

Another thing that's bad for boxing is so many governing bodies and so many titles within each governing body.. It's pathetic that WBA has a regular, super, interim champ belts..
