Comments Thread For: Roach: I'm Glad We Got Vargas Instead of Crawford at This Point

Pacquiao is a politician and a father with multiple reasons to walk away, but trainer Freddie Roach believes that Pacquiao's skills haven't sharply declined. Even after repeatedly claiming he would retire into his political career following his win over Timothy Bradley in April, Pacquiao can't deny that fighting is irresistible, both for the competitive rush and the fat paychecks.

IMO Bud Crawford is on the way of building up his value and not full welterweight, so I agree with that this is not the best time to face Pacquiao. However, the way of team Pacquiao dealing with media is so bad that they seem like they afraid of Crawford.

At the end of the day if Floyd can fight the Berto's, Gurerro's & Maidana's of the boxing world, Manny at 38 years old can fight Vargas. There should be no hate for his choice. Appreciate Manny as he won't be around much longer just like we did with Floyd.

If that's his reasoning then it makes sense. He wants to see how training with the new senate Pac is and he doesn't think he'd have the proper time to prepare for Crawford

I wouldn't say Floydie's exit was anything much, plus he was basically found out, finally, for juicing. And Floydie ran more and more. Pac, meanwhile, was the aggressor. Worst bu tt whipping Bradley has taken so far IMO. Both Pac and Floydie have elite talent IMO, but just one has the warrior spirit.... and it isn't Floydie that's for certain.

I didn't even want Manny to have another fight.

Nothing left to prove the dude is an ATG, let him UD Vargas and then rule the PI with an iron fist in a couple years.
