I'm going to through it right now but if I can stack up some bread and drastically change my financial situation I'm buying this.

i agree im not big on every single decent fight being ppv but if there was a fight that could be made right now that im wiling pay for so i can watch in hd instead of ****ty stream its this one. im also a little surprised brook ggg is not ppv i assumed it was for the longest. i wonder if its because its in the uk or if hbo said no because of the number on gggs last fight. i just feel brook ggg is a ppv fight regardless of fact brook is moving up in weight

Duva is delusional, is the Super Bowl on PPV?, the World Series??, the Indy 500?, the Kentucky Derby? NBA Finals, NCAA Finals, NHL Stanley Cup??? WTF is she talking about the best vs the best is a natural for TV sports programming I saw docs on Ali where it was stated his TV fights attracted over 70 million viewers on fights broadcast on ABC/CBS/ back in the day those numbers are skewed since there was a fraction of the channels available then and no internet but if there was mainstream appeal there would be no such thing as PPV this format was not created to show best vs best it was created because networks refused to be ripped off for having to sponsor 20 bad fights for every good one.

          This.

I think many boxing fans got a domestically abused spouse outlook on boxing like they deserve to have to pay to see the best fight or something. Some low self esteem why do I keep getting in these bad relationships type ****.

This is definitely the kind of fight that deserves to be paid for. Boxing is so back-asswards how quality of fight matters less than the name. Can you imagine more people tuning in to watch the Panthers play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl than to play the Broncos? Or more people watching the Cavs play the Clippers than the Warriors?

You're right, but if we have to pay for fights, these are the fights that should be paid for. Not Alvarez/Khan or Golovkin/Brook or Mayweather/Berto or Pacquiao/Vargas.

I slightly disagree. PPV is for fighters we "would pay to see" but tickets are way too ridiculous for the average fan to afford. So I can understand why a Floyd, Manny, Tyson or ODH would always be on PPV.

A fight like Kov/Ward should be on regular TV because it gives us all a chance to watch and then the winner could become someone we want to "pay to see".

A fan can go to a ward/kov in Vegas and have a great weekend for 2 for about the same price as just 1 close seat at a fight one of the big stars has.

Thats not how it all works doe. The economics of a fight isn't about the quality of the guys fighting or of the matchup per se, its about one or both of those fighters having enough appeal with boxing fans & ideally sports fans or curious non-boxing fans to spend less money on putting the fight together then everyone involved walks away with.

There is no idealistic world where top 5 P4P fights have more $-value than a fight with big names. Reality says 9.5 times outta 10 the fight with the big names is gonna outsell the top 5 P4P fight cuz of the crossover appeal of the names. So with that being how things work its almost always silly to say certain fights should or shouldn't be PPV caliber fights. Maybe I'm wrong & maybe Kovalev vs Ward does 1M+ or something big like that, but I seriously doubt it.

Yep. This fight doesn't realllllly even feel like a PPV fight to me for that reason. I understand it cuz its about economics not my or anyone elses feelings, but I do suspect this fight would be best served for all parties being on HBO (outside of their budget concerns obviously) over HBO PPV & if it was possible it'd have been a wonderful option for regular TV.

Bojangles1987 makes a solid point. I agree that a Floyd/Berto fight isn't PPV quality. However, the price structure makes it expensive to go see the fight with your wife or your boys since every Floyd fight is like an "event". You can also have big parties around the fight because casuals and chicks come out.

A ward/Kov fight is PPV quality but the tickets are much cheaper so you can make a whole weekend because the fight isn't an "event" just a great fight.

Ward/Kov isn't likely going to attract a lot of celebs or high rollers. ******** tables regular sat price. No a list stars hosting parties at the clubs. No big fight parties, just you and your boys watching at the crib.
