weight classes f#cking matter. golovkin would, at the very least, tire like hell fighting a 175 lber for the first time, nevermind a top flight p4per with knockout power.
he's going to hit a 175 lber with a punch that knocked a middleweight spark-out and the dude is not going to go anywhere. then he's going to get hit by shots he used to take at MW and they're going to shake him up. and then he's going to tire. jabbing a 175 lber and jabbing a MW are different things. hitting the guard, getting your shots batted away by a significantly stronger guy, wears you down seriously.
kovalev would be the favorite against golovkin, and he should. hell, he'd be the favorite against ray robinson. FFS the guy is a LHW, and golovkin has been a MW for 10 years.Comment

Going from 160 to 175 with no tuneup worked out just fine for the last great middleweight (Benard hopkins) and he was a middleweight longer than 10 years
Remember that?Comment
