Mayweather fought Marquez after un-retiring in 2009, not 2007. But I see and agree with your point.

They hype around GGG is understandable- everyone wants to see knockouts and GGG has the power, and apparently the style, to knock these guys out. However, that's not saying much given his opposition. If the best fighter you've fought in your last 20 fights is David Lemieux, then that's nothing to ride home about. And don't give me that bull about people not wanting to fight him. You know what he should have done? moved up or moved down in weight to get a fight worth talking about. End of story

I would like Brooks chances of giving Golovkin a fight if he approached it in a different way. Brook has come in heavy and appears to be working on strength which is generally not the way to go about what he is trying to do because he is unlikely to really overcome Golovkin on a strength level so even if that gap is narrower it is still a weakness.

Brook should have focused on speed and being nice and limber to stick then move keeping Golovkin chasing. I son't like Brooks chances that way but at lest he would have been playing to his possible advantages. Now those are likely disadvantages because he will be to bulky to move as good as he needs to.

Yeah right Juan.... The only shot he has is a "shot" in the leg to get out of this fight.

Have these people sparred with GGG? Canelo has... That's why he won't fight him.

If Brook was a better boxer he would have knocked out Porter like a welterweight version of GGG would have. He would have been able to combine clean shots on the chin in succession until Porter fell. Instead Brook landed some nice singles and that was about it. Seems a lot of fighters are jealous of the "hype" GGG gets so they take veiled shots at him. Marquez took a long time to break through and now he sees GGG coming from Khazakstan of all places and becoming a star much quicker than he did. I get why that would piss Marquez off but he has to realize GGG has what, 22 knockouts in a row, and has looked like a force of nature. When exceptional things happen in sports, it breaks through to the public. Marquez was a great fighter but he wasn't a freak of nature like GGG. Marquez shouldn't be jealous anyway he has the Pacquiao KO which unless the PED details come out later, will stand the test of time as a great accomplishment and Hall of Fame career defining win.

Besides... We all know JMM hates every boxer who is not him or his brother.

Most boxing people agree with your comment.
I think Brook and his team are thinking his added size will allow him to basically fight the same way he did as a WW. At 147 Brook would move forward using his jab to set up his right hand. Brook stayed in the pocket using head movement, rather than his legs, to avoid punches.
Brook is always confident that he's stronger than his opponent. His big advantage as a WW was being able to make 147 and then rehydrating 15 pounds or more for the fight.
If I'm right, this has the makings of an action fight. Of corse I could be wrong and Brook could get oh his bike and give us a snooze fest. lol

I like Brook but once he gets hit and feels G's power, He'll be thinking of Khan all night.
