    Perez vs kirilov A roberry

    Perez survives Kirilov!

    Saturday, May 6 2006

By Scott Ploof and Pat Kelley at ringside

    DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts:
IBF junior bantamweight champion Luis "El Demoledor" Perez (24-1, 15 KOs) won a controversial twelve round split decision over mandatory challenger Dimitri Kirilov (28-3, 10 KOs). Kirilov did very well for the first seven rounds, but the champion dropped him in the eighth. Kirilov recovered well, and both fighters had their moments down the stretch. Kirilov was wobbled early in the twelfth, but both fighters traded until the final bell. Scores were 115-113, 114-113 for Perez, 117-110 for Kirilov.

Perez is a garbage fighter, He defends his title 3 times in 4 years, and they haven;t stripped him yet. I think he lost the fight he won the title in. I can't remember the gentlemans name, but that was another controversial decision.

Wow, I just watched this fight on my DVR and that was a terrible scoring... It was a fairly close fight but kirilov scored so many better punches... What a bunch of crap.

Kirilov didn't help his cause in the last few rounds. I didn't score the fight round-by-round but thought he won the fight, but it was close enough to be a disappointing decision a la Bobby Pacquiao-Carlos Hernandez but not a straight-up scandal like, say, Rico Hoye-Montell Griffin...
