Funny, because I remember that in Feb 2014 Adonis immediately signed with Al Haymon and it was common knowledge that HBO -- which has made Stevenson-Kovalev one of its 2014 priorities -- and Haymon were on the outs at that point.

Kovalev won a title in August 2013, a month past three years ago. No one had any idea who he was. Talks for a Stevenson fight were barely beginning, if they had at all at that point.

So yeah, Kovalev was a brand new titlist no one heard of 3 years ago, and anyone who tries to suggest Ward waited for him to age is living in fantasy land. The idea that Kovalev was better then than he is now is also ridiculous.

I only said that, at the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014, the "lineal" and WBC titlist Stevenson blatantly ducked a "no one had heard of" Kovalev... Now: do you take the Kronk-Steward-trained Adonis as a ****** actor of this sport?... because I simply don't!

Well, we'll see in November right? It looked to me after Wards fight, there was plenty of mutual respect there, so I think this is to hype the fight. However, I don't really care if Ward says "hi" or "go **** your mother" to the guy. If he wasn't such a sensitive Sally, it would be no big deal.

Kovalev is holding a press conference in English. I don't think Ward will be as effective at controling Kovalev with movement the way he did Froch as Kovalev has quicker hands & feet.

Ward can get Kovalevs respect by,

• initiating right arm clinches and **** away with his left (Ward is left handed)

• left hook off his jab

Ward ain't as mobile as he use to be so we should see some fireworks 50/50 fight.

The "Ward waited for him to age" part was about the person I responded to in that post you quoted.

And you're right about that, but again, 3 years ago, Stevenson/Kovalev talks were barely beginning, if they had started at all. Kovalev had literally just won his first title 3 years ago. It wasn't until all that happened in early 2014 that Kovalev became a known name, and it wasn't until the Hopkins fight that he became a major player.
