It's the author of the article who makes references to Hopkins...not Kovalev who said he is not looking into the past concerning the Ward fight...he makes no comparisons.

"I'm ready for Andre Ward like I was ready for Bernard Hopkins."
If I were Kovalev and someone brought up Hopkins, I'd probably address that this is a much bigger challenge than a 50 year old Hopkins.

kovalev always says similar stuff about people that disrespect him (or people he thinks that disrespected him). this only means he didn't like ward attitude before the press conference like he didn't like when pascal brought bananas to the press conference for their rematch and he nearly killed pascal

Ward will win easy, going off their last fights, Kovalev looked shot and his punches for the past 3 fights are looking sluggish he doesnt haved that pep in his step, he doesnt bounce and string together those crazy power combos like he did on NBC.

Ward will win this, he will grapple Kovalev and just win in an ugly ass fight on points, he looked fresher, he couldnt finish that dude but he looked much better than Kovalev, I wouldn't be shocked if Ward knocks Kovalev out either from a sneak punch, They are not that much different in size, Ward said he is having trouble even making 175 and would like to go to heavyweight or cruiserweight soon.

He said he had already forgot about Hopkins...he wasn't the one to bring it up and make comparisons...he just answered the question.

It was unusual of Ward not to give a hug. No wonder Sergey is offended.

Yeah just ignore the possibility that Chilemba has never been knocked out or knocked down from what I'm aware... Yet Kovalev knocked him down under pressure in his hometown while ill. Let's not forget, no one looks good verse Chilemba.

The Ward who fought Barrera would of been obliterated by Kovalev
