I believe that even if Smith managed to earn a decision win (I have no idea, never seen him fight), then he wouldn't get it because Alvarez always has corrupt judges on his side.

If there's a legit ref instead of one bought beforehand, Alvarez might lose the Lara fight. Denying the judge's influence there is ridiculous.

If he manages to win even 4 rounds against Mayweather, he might have gotten the win.

The Trout fight was dead even after 8 rounds and open scoring had Trout losing 8 and 6 rounds on 2 scorecards, which effectively meant he had no chance to win after 8 rounds of an even fight. There is absolutely no way to defend those scorecards or the influence they had on the fight. Trout was robbed before the fight even began.
