But, Bob - unbelievably - thought that it was a poor idea.

Until it benifited him to do so today, that is SMH
to be honest i dont even think he's gonna benefit much from it. donaire's name hasnt been mention much anymore and pac is losing his star power by a lot.

im not sure what took bob so long to put them on the same card. donaire on a pac under card is never a bad idea but i just dont think he's gonna get the full potential from it now.

Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz gets flak from promoters, boxers

      Posted Feb 16, 2014
      by Leo Reyes

Manny Pacquiao's adviser Michael Knocz has been on the receiving end of criticisms from a group of boxing promoters, boxers, journalists and boxing fans for his reported unfair treatment and bias against Filipino boxers and managers.

Koncz, who serves as Pacquiao's adviser and manager of MP Promotions, a boxing promotions company owned by Pacquiao, was earlier denounced by a group of Filipino boxing promoters and managers for what they claimed as “acts of injustice towards the Filipino boxing community.”

“Masyado nang abuso itong si Koncz. (Koncz is so abusive already) He throws his weight around because of his strong ties with Manny Pacquiao, kaya kahit ang Top Rank nangingilag kay Koncz dahil ayaw nilang ma offend si Manny,” (that even Top Rank is cautious so as not to offend Manny) said one of the promoters, who was supposed to attend the meeting last Feb. 13. A manifesto declaring Koncz a "persona non grata" in the country was supposed to be made in that meeting.

The promoters said Koncz has been a subject of complains from promoters for unjust and unfair treatment of their fighters. A case in point according to the promoters is the failed fight of Filipino boxer Ernie Sanchez, who was replaced by promoter Top Rank, reportedly on the request of Koncz, who claimed that he has managerial rights over Sanchez. Sanchez, who is being managed by Brico Santig, was about to fly to the US when he learned that he was replaced as the opponent of Diego Magdaleno in a fight scheduled for February 15. Reacting to the planned action by the Filipino promoters, Rachel Donaire said that her husband Nonito, has also suffered similar actions by Koncz.

“This has been a long time coming. Way before this I have said he needs to stop meddling with other people. When Nonito signed Top Rank in 2008, Koncz explicitly said Nonito was supposed to sign under MP first and they'd handle Top Rank." "But then that would undermine all Cameron Dunkin had done to get Nonito to that point, in addition Koncz would be collecting his fee for doing nothing so Nonito signed with his manager to Top Rank."

Rachel recalled that Nonito failed to make it in Pacquiao's undercard because of Konxz intervention. "In 2011, when we had a misunderstanding with Top Rank, I had stated that Koncz was the major reason Nonito was never allowed on Pacquiao's undercard. Koncz has been known to pull fighters off cards that he personally isn't collecting money from. I've seen it with many Filipino fighters because he wants to collect from all Filipino fighters."

"I believe Filipinos have fought their way to get their due respect and shouldn't have to bow to the will of some foreigner thinking he is the gatekeeper to all that's boxing. It's not fair that these boxers fight for barely anything when they have worked so hard to get where they are. And I know I'll get flak for saying this but honestly, I'm sick of hearing the same story of a fighter training so hard and getting pulled off a card because of this guy."
"Unfortunately, until Pacquiao kicks him out and takes away his power, he will continue to push his influence to try to control RP boxers. #rantover”.

Yes, this reeks of desperation really.

But leave it to Ronnie Nathanielsz to suck off Arum because of this "smart" move.

Not a bad fight and good undercard! I'm definitely buying this fight. Looks like I'm buying four for the year instead of normal 2-3.
