Comments Thread For: Arum Was Smart in Adding Donaire To Pacquiao Undercard

TOP Rank promoter Bob Arum isn't someone you take lightly when it comes to hyping a fight card. Sensing the less than enthusiastic response to the World Boxing Organization welterweight title fight between champion Jessie Vargas and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Nov. 5, Arum pulled off a masterstroke that suddenly fired the imagination of fight fans, especially Filipinos, who didn't seem too excited about Pacquiao's return to the ring against a champion.

nah, putting Nonito on Pac's under-card was first mentioned years ago.

But, Bob - unbelievably - thought that it was a poor idea.

Until it benifited him to do so today, that is SMH

It's a business decision, Donaire was a huge deal back then, he'd have had to pay both of them good money, for very little bump in the ppv money.

It would be even better if they put this card in Manila! Ali vs. Frazier was in Manila, why not Pacquiao?

Was definitely a good one. Makes you wonder why he wasn't doing this year's ago.

Pacquiao needs all the help he can get to help sell this card. How the mighty has fallen.

i wouldnt call it smart but desperate... its a little too late for both guys.

arum will finally put pac and donaire on the same card when both of them are on their way out. i can see both guys losing which is sad. lol
