I tend to agree in most western countries these weights have no f#cks given by fans. And like with womens boxing there tend to be more decisions & just less one punch KO's which fans love. Like it or not most boxing fans, hardcore or casual, & general sports fans wanna see KO's & love the potential of a fight ending at any moment which the lower weights offer less of. Its just the reality so it'd be smart if the western boxing world did drop those weights.

I think if boxing ever does take on any sort of league-like format this will happen. Like there would be a US/UK/Russia/East Euro/Mexico league with guys from 126 & up (11 divisions) & a Asiancentric league with guys from 122 down (6 divisions) & guys who happen to be from Mexico or the UK who weigh 115lbs might need to go to Japan to have a serious career & the Nobuhiro Ishida's of the world would need to come to the US or Mexico to have a serious career & largely that sorta stuff is happening now already, but I think if some sort of league like en****** came to be the lines between these realities would be clearer & more defined. Eh...just thinking out loud with that, but I think the sport would be better with something like this being how things worked.

Yeah the hobbit weight divisions are hard to keep up with, most of the fights aren't televised or they are set in Japan or Thailand somewhere. I say the cut off should be Bantamweight but we should get rid of all the "Junior" and "Super" weight divisions. Should just be 118, 126, 135, 147, 160 etc. FFS in the hobbit divisons the difference is like 2-3 lbs.

There are hundreds of millions of grown men all over the world who weigh less than 125 pounds and many of them are good boxers. Two of the best pound for pound boxers in the world, Rigo and Gonzalez have always weighed less than 125 pounds. If you don't like small boxers then just don't watch their fights. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and enjoyed the great smaller boxers like Rubin Olivares, Vincente Saldivar, Salvador Sanchez, Michael Carbajal,Richardo Lopez,Wilfredo Gomez and other fighters who weighed 126 or less most or all of their careers. They had as much skill as any larger fighter and just as much right to make a living boxing.I wouldn't like this new rule of yours.

I'm not saying there aren't a bunch of "men" who weigh less than 125lbs & who have talent for boxing. I just don't think they offer much entertainment value to a critical mass of fans (hardcore, casual or sports fans) that they are viable in the US & other countries.

I think they would be better served going to some Asian country or other countries where more lil guys thrive at. Pushing smaller guys seems like a losing battle & not unsimilar to pushing women fighters in the US. And thats not to say its impossible cuz I remember Carbajal & how popular he was at one point in the US & Ricardo Lopez is one of my favorite fighters of all time & probably the most technically strong boxer during my time as a boxing fan, but those guys are in the vast minority with where they got plus I believe hardcore, casual & sports fans to be much more fickle today than back then. And mainly I'd just like there to be harder lines with weight divisions across the board & there are far too many lil guy weight divisions imho.

the more i think about it, the more i like this idea boxingfan.

all those low ass divisions just separated by mere measly pounds need to be consolidated.

i would say 126 featherweight is a good cut off point since its a historically legendary division that has produced a lot of great fights and fighters.

                  anything below,

GTFO and go eat some pasta b*tch.

                  no offense.

I'd have no problem with them eliminating every division below 126. Babbyweights are comical.
