DLH hasn't fought in more than a year and a half so the question mark is how he will show up, especially coming off a loss like last time, but if he shows up in top form, he should have no problem winning a UD, maybe even a TKO by ref stoppage if Mayorga gets hit too many times. Of course, if DLH isn't up to form, he could be in for a long night.
I pick De La Hoya by UD.

Oscar I believe is so fiercely determined to win this fight in a way that will overcome Mayorga's toughness and brute force. Oscar weighed in at 153.5 WITH denim pants on, which means he really was 152 or 152.5. The man has been training something fierce, and Mayorga appeared taken aback at the final press conferece, almost as if he was somewhat scared knowing that the fight was looming.

Mayorga will look very capable at times, and have Oscar in hot water more than once. Oscar will persevere though and Mayorga will be forced to go out on his shield.

I'm majorly excited for this fight. No curseword could describe how awesome this is. I been waitin for one of my guys to come back. Roy is not himself so I hope Oscar can fulfill the need. He's been my man since way back, just like Roy. I'm going to be almost as nervous about this fight as I was for the Roy-Ruiz fight. ****'s gonna rock, yo.

I think Oscar outboxes Mayorga & wins by a UD. I hope I'm wrong, I'm with my boy Mayorga.

I don't see Oscar stopping Mayorga, even if he dominates the way Tito did against Mayo. Tito hits much harder then Oscar, I will be very surprised if Oscar stops Mayorga.

I like Oscar of course but beyond that I will be watching one of my heros for what could be the last time and if it is not the last fight of Oscar's career it is the second to last-thank you Oscar I love ya.

He has meant a ton to the sport and he is the only big name fighter I can name that I have seen every one of his fights as they happened(pretty ****ing rare)...he is very special too me and I would be very sad if someone like Mayorga (who I do like in a way) was able to take him out.

Can Mayo win...hell yes he can-the body attack will be key but I think Class tells in this one just as it does in horseracing...

Tonight we will find out that these two men are simply put...on 2 seperate skill levels regardless of layoff or primes.

Due to the long layoff, I won't be surprised if Oscar gets dropped in the early rounds; but Mayorga won't stop him. De La Hoya, rust or no rust, has too much for Ricardo, IMHO. It's going to be a hard fought contest; but I feel that Oscar's gonna bust him up as the fight goes on and will more than likelly stop him late by TKO or win a Unanimous Decision. If Oscar does win by stoppage, it's gonna have to be in the late rounds, IMO, because if Tito could land that many solid shots on Mayorga and him still make it into the 8th, no way Oscar's winning early....but he will win.

Ok great points and all Scapper.

But when you refer to these "Skill Levels" you'd really have to look back and say: Was Mayorga on Vernon Forrest's level "Skillwise"...and how in the hell does that have anything to do with this fight?

This is a streetfight, and Oscar is going to participate or lose.

Yeah it is true but arguable Forrest won the 2nd fight. You have to consider that because DLH is not under the same mental durress of having been KOd by Mayorga like Forrest was. If Forrest can fight Mayo to a even fight at 147 after having been KOd by him, I think DLH will win a close fight.

It sure as hell ain't gonna be easy though. I'd be upset but not shocked if Mayorga stopped Oscar with some wicked shots. You know how Mayo is, and yes, he has stopped two people who had more 'skills' than him.
