i see nothing wrong with him picking Kov. A lot of people will. I just hope if Ward wins those people give him the credit he will have earned.

The only people who would be doing Ward out of credit if he wins are those who would claim Kovalev was no good in first place.

Ward knows the level that he has to prepare for..... Kovalev, does not.

Ward has fought the very best since he was a young kid..... simply because he has been the very best, since he was a young kid.

Good luck finding someone to mimic Ward, because Chilemba wasn't it.

The most obvious notable career points..... Ward has adjusted to everything that was put in front of him, using a different style/gameplan for every opponent..... Kovalev stuck to a GREAT but simple gameplan to neutralize old man Hopkins, and was too much for everyone else.

I pick Ward to rise to the occasion, AGAIN.

Early, I see a very technical - somewhat ugly - fight..... with Kovalev using a similar gameplan to what he used for Hopkins..... fighting tall, patient, behind the pole, and looking to step/rock back whenever Ward looks to initiate..... with Ward being super-patient, establishing his own perimeter, and going after Kovalev's jab.

Ward will either be just outside Kovalev's jab looking to counter, or his head will be firmly planted under Kovalev's chin, looking to make an investment..... and Kovalev will be forced to fight whenever he looks like he needs a rest.

This will be an close/ugly fight I think.

Ive been saying it. From inactivity to fighting
D level fighters who are slow and have no power or dont have any true resistance dont prepare you for the man.

There are levels to boxing. I sure hope there is drug testing .

Nah, Kovalev has a great deal of respect for Ward and will approach this fight with greater focus than he did even for Hopkins. The Chilemba fight was a valuable experience for Kovalev though. He took the guy lightly and though he'd just blast him out for his home crowd. Chilemba's toughness forced Kovalev to dig down and bring out more of himself.

Ward's a bit of an enigma. He has a history of wanting things easy as possible, but every time in the past when he's been backed into a corner, he's come through.

Kovalev may box Ward like he did Hopkins, or he might try to make things rough and dirty like Bika did, when Ward had his most difficult fight.

Actually, you are DEAD WRONG here.

First of all. Kovalev was still recovering and was sick right at the fight.

Secondly, he never expected to blast out Chilemba. Home turf advantage is not an advantage for Kovalev. Listen to his intereviews, he prefers to fight away.

More importantly, you do realize this is his first return to the same ring where the last time Kovalev fought there... his opponent DIED a few days later from injuries from the fight?

That was a total mind **** I am sure.

Combine that with all of the media stuff he had to do for returning to his home town area..... and it is more clear of the entire picture.

If anything... the Ward fight will be a piece of cake for Kovalev, at least far easier than Chilemba.
