It's a guy name erislandy lara that has been fighting on hbo/showtime for 5 years. That has been in with canelo and Paul williams and has fought on ppv the same amount of times as golovkin.
He was the perfect opponent. Team golovkin look right over him for a welterweight. That's where the criticism is coming from.
And don't leave out the part where golovkin said out of his own mouth "Brook is too small".
If a fighter says a guy is too little too fight me and then turns around and fights that fighter. It's a cherry pick bro
Lara has no intention of fighting Golovkin. He hides behind Haymon and talks **** to build his profile. His manager recently (july) stated that they have no intention of fighting Golovkin anytime soon:

And for the record, I can guarantee you that Golovkin is alllllll wrong for Lara. Golovkin LOVES outside fighters like Lara. Add to that Lara's propensity for shelling up on the ropes, and he's getting KTFO in 2-3 rounds. Go watch Martirosyan-Lara again. Vanes has no idea how to control the ring, and he was able to backup Lara and land a ton of bodyshots to Lara's ribs. Imagine those were Golovkin body shots instead of Martirosyan, that will tell you everything you need to know about that fight.

I'm not even saying lara wins. I'm saying lara has been in with bigger names than brook and has fought on ppv the same amount of times as golovkin and has fought the man golovkin is chasing. And most people had lara bearing canelo. So win or lose he made sense for golovkin who was desperate for an opponent at the time.
But fanboys try to come on here and discredit a dude that arguably beat the man golovkin wants to fight so bad.
Golovkin told us out his own mouth Brook is too small. But he is still gonna fight him. You respect that tho right?

I point you to an article where his manager says they're only interested in that fight, but there are money issues, promoter issues, network issues and lara wants to stay at 154.. yet you somehow think that Golovkin can "choose" him?
I'm completely ignoring the part where Lara somehow wants to get paid $4-5m from Golovkin, which is an obvious price out since neither guy made that much money before, and Lara brings nothing to the table.
I can also point out that Loeffler reached out to Haymon about Lara recently, but you're just going to come up with another convoluted reason for why you think Golovkin sucks. Keep trolling.

However, a lot of posters on this site demand that golovkin fight ward, which would (if he beats brook) mean a 36-0 fighter stepping up two weight classes to fight a light heavyweight.
If that fight did get made, not necessarily next but in the future, would all those members of the forum criticising golovkin for fighting brook, then criticise ward for fighting the smaller man instead, especially when the weight difference between the two would likely be larger than brook compared to golovkin?
Do people think ward would deserve criticism or should he be focusing on fighting light heavyweights instead?

Well according to Larry, boxers should only be looking up, so anyone fighting a guy in a division below them is a coward
