I am honored to have had my voice featured on Canelo-Smith PPV preview show alongside such boxing experts as Jerry Jones. However…
They asked me if they could use a snip of my podcast for the pay-per-view preview show. I said sure, mostly because I wanted to see what they would do with that, because I have been intensely critical of this fight. What happened is what I expected to happen, quite frankly, and I’m actually not angry or anything, it’s just funny and I want to be clear.
They clipped me saying the fighters’ names, the date of the fight, and the location. That’s fine. I don’t know why I was needed but OK. They then clipped out me saying, "I’m sure it will be in the discussion for Fight of the Year." Now, that is something which I certainly have said about SOME fight, but absolutely not about this one.
My name wasn’t attached. I didn’t even get a credit. Which is the other reason I did it. So I really got SCREWED by THE MAN here, you guys. My hope was that they were going to address the fact that the fight has met intense criticism. Instead they CONTORTED my WORDS, you guys.
My simple lesson is this: do not trust the media. Don’t even trust me.
