Yeah Canelo's middleweight lineal title defense at 154 should be celebrated...

Fk lineal titles when the guys who hold them fight fking bums every time out like Stevenson...

I thought Dierry Jean was ranked 75th in the the world but on double checking he is ranked 20th in the world. I apologize to Crawford for my mistake. When he beat Postol he became the lineal champion. I wasn't talking about the weak title defenses of only lineal champions. I was talking about the lowered standards of title defenses by all world champions be they lineal, WBO, WBC IBF or WBA.

So are title defenses watered down now?? how can Hopkins hold the record for title defenses?? Monzon defended the "LINEAL" title 14 times, while Hopkins did not become lineal until he beat Ttio which would give him 6 actual defenses of the lineal title

Calzaghe is credited for 21 defenses when he only became lineal when he beat Lacy which would give him 3 defenses.

So is boxing just getting more and more watered down as the years go on?
          Is this really a revelation?

Um, yeah it's watered down. Has been severely watered down for years. I don't see it changing either, but I wish it would.

As far as lineal, who can even keep up with lineal? it doesn't even make sense anyway. When one guy retires with the belts, who is the "Lineal" champion then? Who are the lineal welterweight champions since Floyd retired? Garcia? Brook? And if so, why one over the other?

No because they mean nothing Larry. This isn't the old school way of boxing it's the new school full of coward boxers who fear to lose that 0.

The only way that I see a fighter as champion is if he beats the lineal champion or becomes the undisputed champion after the lineal champion retires.
