  • Comments Thread For: P. Fury: Brook in a Win-Win Position Against Gennady Golovkin

Peter Fury, uncle and head trainer of WBO/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, believes IBF welterweight king Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) made the right decision in moving forward with a dangerous fight against Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin.

This Fury guy has GGG nailed right down here. When GGG needs to be wary of someone's power you end up with the Lemieux tactics - box an destroy. If someone walks in carrying no threat then it's a show for the crowds and people actually start to think GGG has no defense when he ploughs forward taking some and landing some. The guy is a talent and hopefully over the coming years everyone will start to see that when he steps up in weight - let's face it, there is no one at MW anywhere close to pushing him.

That's what I'm afraid of. That if GGG feels some decent power he will go in straight boxing mode for a boring Lemiuex type fight.

er not really, the '0' is one of the most important things to have in boxing.

Also if he get's beaten badly, or suffers a khan esque KO he may not ever be the same...

Brook ain't hurting GGG, he'll stop him with comparative ease. Another glorified mismatch for GGG, ain't nobody south of 168 standing up to his power. Wake me when he moves up.

Why is the 0 so important, Froch's career never took off until he was battered by Ward. Calzaghe and guys like Floyd obviously used their undefeated records to claim themselves the best but let's be honest those guys were special, and had they have a loss they'd still be considered as good as guys like Froch with losses on their records.

No one is going to suffer a possible career ending KO/Beat down by ward so that's not really a comparison here.

It's important because well...that's boxing for you, that's how it is, if you compare it to MMA, you got guys with 10+ losses who are champions and are still relevant.

In boxing you get 5-6 losses and you're not relevant and are a journeyman type character, of course there are a couple of exceptions, if you're a salido type character who has fought literally every single top guy out there, that's extremely rare though..

Oh I see, you're not a Ward fan and a fan of Froch, I never realised you were a biased fan boy and not a boxing fan.

Froch looked like a car crash victim, if Ward hadn't a broken hand I expect he would have stopped Froch.

Fighters with that many losses are usually mentally shot. It's a completely different sport for a start, these UFC boys take vicious beating and come back from them, boxers with six losses are mentally done.
