Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Eubank Sr. Telling Lies, Must Come To His Senses

A few days ago, Chris Eubank Sr., father and manager of Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18KOs), lashed out at WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight king Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs). Eubank Sr. was angered over the fallout in their fight negotiations.

I can't see how this is GGG's fault when the problem was between Eubank's team and Eddie Hearn. However I respect Eubank Jrs skills. Put him in there with Quillin or someone like that.

That's the problem with today's boxing scene - there is not enough fights between contenders and the '0' is too highly regarded. If Quillen could even make 160, suppose he were to beat Eubank? Quillen would be back as a top contender and Eubank would be relegated to British level only. So naturally Eubank is not gonna risk that scenario for little money.

That is not about Eubank and Quillen cos that scenario plays out across the board except maybe in Mexico and Japan. Everyone is too scared of their career getting derailed off a loss to a comparable fighter so the matchmakers are building up paper contenders who get one of a very few chances at a decent purse.

Why fight Quillen for a $500,000 purse? Even if Quillen goes to the UK for the fight none know him over there so no money from Sky - although more than if fight would be in NY.

The sad truth is boxing has fallen to be a specialist sport now and the promoters can't drum up enough interest in a Quillen-Eubank type fight to get the purses these guys want.

There are exceptions like recent Takam-parker fight - but they are rare.

We think he's running scared. This is Gennedy Golovkin,” Eubank Sr. said to The Express. “We think he's running scared..''
Come on Sr. He had signed to fight you..you killed the deal at the last minute. You're making you and your son look silly.

Jr is a really good fighter. He's got a good fan base. Stop with the daft talk, get him back in action and get him the good fights.
          IMO he'd do well.

"Hopefully the fight can be made before the end of the year."

Why??? What has Chris Eubank jr. done to deserve this fight? The fans want to see Jacobs, Canelo, Degale, or Ramirez, in that order. Then Eubank or Saunders. Eubank is the better style, Saunders has the belt. But I want to see GGG-Jacobs before GGG gets old and slow and loses to a very underrated, but still inferior, fighter. Same goes with Canelo, minus the underrated part. Even GGG haters should think long and hard about whether they want Canelo to go down as an all time great, perhaps even ahead of Mayweather, because they'll say "he was young when he lost to Floyd, but developed and beat GGG, a better win than anyone Mayweather beat in his career! That's why my top 5 all time are SRR, SRL, Ali, Canelo, and Duran."

You know how it will go. If Canelo beats GGG, that will be milked for all eternity. So for the sake of boxing history these fights need to be made while both fighters are still in their primes.

SR has shown he doesn't want his son in the ring with world level competition. Too bad for Jr. He needs anther manager.

Johnny Nelson said it best, the Eubank's never intended to go through with the fight. They only used it to hype his name.

Eubank can still recover from this big time though. He takes the fight in October with Langford (on a an undercard, lol), but then jumps at the Saunders fight for low money. He beats Saunders for the WBO title and he's really in the driver's seat then.
