You reclaim something that has been taken away from you. Alvarez never had those dates, so he can't reclaim anything. If Floyd Mayweather were still fighting, Mayweather would be fighting on those dates. Alvarez is nothing more than a wannabe and fighting on the weekend of the Mexican holidays is not going to make him any better or any more popular.

Great job of splitting hairs. Alvarez did not use the word reclaim. He simply said that Mayweather fought on the dates that Alvare wanted for his own fights. Now that Mayweather has retired, Alvarez said he can finally represent the Mexican people on those dates.

Alright, I don't even like Canelo and thought that he actually had the nerve to claim he somehow took the dates back from Mayweather.
