    The 'Little' Guy

No I'm not talking about Golovkin!

So I was having a chat with a buddy here the other day and he/she said Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez basically is a fraud and that hes not really a multi-weight champion because the division hes in has a cutoff limit of around 3 LBS...however I pointed out the fact that 3.7 is the average for most of the weight classes in boxing ( from 140 below ). So I decided to do a little homework and compare his climb in weight vs. the best in the sport ( regardless of the division they are fighting in ) ; it turns out that despite being the smallest man in the P4P list he has not only competed in more division yet at the same time gained more weight. It appears that the 'measly' 3 LBS that separate the flyweights seems to suggest to the casual that three pounds is all hes really added. Below is the current boxingscene P4P list : here I highlight the discrepancies.

Roman Gonzalez : (45-0, 38 KO) Minimumweight 105 - Light Flyweight 108 - Flyweight 115 -- and currently will try to win his forth crown at SuperFlyweight a total count of (10 pounds.)

    Saul Alvarez : (47-1-1, 33 KO) Welterweight - Super Welterweight - Canelo weight 155 ( 9 unofficially with Canelo weight )

    Andre Ward : (29-0, 15 KO) WBC Super Middleweight -Light Heavyweight 168-175 ( 7 LBS )

    Naoya Inoue : (10-0, 8 KO) Light Flyweight - Super Flyweight 108-115 ( 7 LBS)

    Terence Crawford : (28-0, 20 KO) Lightweight - Light Welterweight 135-140 ( 5 LBS )

    Vasyl Lomachenko : (6-1, 4 KO)Featherweight - Super Featherweight 126-130 ( 4 LBS )

    Juan Francisco Estrada : (33-2, 24 KO) Light Flyweight - Flyweight 108-112 ( 4 LBS )

    Guillermo Rigondeaux : (16-0, 10 KO) 122 ( 0 LBS )

    Sergey Kovalev : (29-0-1, 26 KO) Light-Heavyweight ( 0 LBS)

    Triple Duck : ( 0 ) LBS.

So I ask you all one simple question....if Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez is not a multi-weight champion having added more weight than his peers that fight at weight classes with HIGHER cut off limits than who is? Note : that from 147 too 154 its only 7 LBS! I dont think no one will argue that you are a TWO weight champion if you win a title in both those divisions -- so if all it takes for bigger men is SEVEN pounds ......how does it make sense to deny RG a Flyweight his respect when hes added more weight than the 'Bigger' men.
