I'm white but I've always wanted to be Mexican.

who wouldnt want to be? most of the mexicans i know are down to earth, family oriented, the women cook like certified chefs, and they know how to have fun and party.

My buddy pedro calls me "Chocolatito" when i visit the local Bistro.We talk boxing, his english is about as good as my spanish but we make it work. you'll never eat taco bell or Del taco again in life if you've had authentic mexican cuisine.

the population we used as slave labor for hundreds of years is still disproportionately impoverished. there are almost 40 million blacks in the states.


if you go to a city like washington DC you'll see, as the crow flies away from the city's center areas getting poorer and blacker. sometimes it's browner. it's obvious that the country is still segregated in some way.

and it's an issue. some blacks resent whites. some whites think they're better than blacks. blacks go to poorer schools, have disproportionate rates of improsnment and criminality, do longer sentences for the same crime, are more likely to be stopped and frisked because of the color of their skin, etc.

some people bring up their race becuase it's important to them. they identify as A, and resent B. and in impovereished communities they often blame B for their problems, instead of resenting policymakers. it's an effective tacitc in a two party system under a plurality rule in elections.

African is quite a general term. If you are so keen to point out your heritage to us then at least be a little more specific & give us the direct nations & the tribes you come from at least?

Thanks for the explanation. I guess being a nation of immigrants would have that effect. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage, but it's the breaking it down to percentages that gets me. Seems like a con. It's big business this ancestry stuff and i am skeptical that they could accurately break down your dna like that.
