    The Darnell Boone Story

Great boxer who deserves respect, and attention. He's fought all the best from 154-175.

Great thread. Proves that a boxer's record doesn't always reflect their talent.

We all complain about fights not getting made and promoters getting in the way but a think this guy really needed some direction and some promotional weight behind him.

          Heheh, indeed!

Funny you say that - because he's actually one of GGG's main sparring partners, and has been in his camp for GGG's past 3-5 fights.

Also, I love your sig pic. DeFAIL is one delusional ****. He is also the son of a ginger - George Groves. Or I supposed Groves is a day-walker, rather than a ginger, because he doesn't have the concentration, nor amount of freckles needed.

Thanks, mate. It's a travesty that Boone doesn't get more attention.

He fought Kovalev the first time to a split decision; he is the only man to knock down Andre Ward; and he knocked out Adonis Stevenson in their first fight.

He's beaten Willy Monroe Jr too.

Exactly. Boone's largest purse has probably been no more than 35k. he probably makes more annually being GGG's sparring partner than he gets in fight purses.

I have no doubt if he had even the slightest bit of promotional power behind him, and guidance/direction, he'd have won, or competitively contended for, world championships somewhere between 154 and 175.

Yea from the look of it he needed someone to direct him into a single weight class and pick out a run of fights, instead of fighting the next big name at any weight with no notice, hell even a dedicated trainer might have made the difference in fighting guys like Ward and Kovalev especially given that he lost to Kov by a split decision.
