Canelo will not be stripped because the rule is not simply fighting in another division. Canelo and any RING champion has a certain amount of time to defend their RING title and I'm pretty sure Canelo fulfilled that requirement when he fought Khan at 155
"The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight)." The RING
Your not buying the "he hasn't fought at the full limit" talk but what you're buying doesn't matter and doesn't change the fact that Canelo has not fought at the 160 limit and doesn't have to in order to keep his RING and Lineal titles.
Canelo does consider himself a 154 lb fighter and he also considers himself a Middleweight champion because he's won titles in both divisions and will probably be a simultaneous champion in both divisions in a few weeks. Competing in both divisions makes him a Jr Middleweight and a Middleweight.
If there is no difference between fighting at a limit of 155 and fighting at a limit of 160, then Golovkin should have no problem facing Canelo at 155. Hmmmm.....
Correction: Saul Alvarez moved up to MW, won MW titles, vacated one of those MW titles while retaining the RING and Lineal MW titles. Golovkin picked up the title vacated by Alvarez yet is still in the same position as he was before.....at Alvarez's mercy.
