Comments Thread For: Tom Brown Reflects on The Lost Art of Building a Fighter

By Thomas Gerbasi - Tom Brown remembers the look he got from his brother-in-law, Dan Goossen, and it wasn't a good one. "No, it was not," he recalls. Brown is normally quick with a laugh, but as he recalls Andre Ward's second pro fight against Kenny Kost, one in which the future world champion got rocked in the second round by the unheralded Minnesotan, it's as if he can picture it all over again.

Great article, Mr. Gerbasi! Definitely a different angle than most articles on this site.

Never knew Tom Brown was David Reid's match-maker. You always hear they rushed Reid's development due to his drooping eye. Before David got matched up against Trinidad, they were preparing him to fight Hopkins.

Building a fighter truly is a lost art. You have to get him the opponents that will sharpen him and push him to improve, while at the same time not putting him in over his head.

                It's a delicate balance.

You just summarized what reid was saying while adding nothing to the discussion. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul
