Is it wrong to root for a fighter just because he is the same race or ethnicity?

its unwise to put money on the line simply because you and a fighter are of the same nationality.Comment

There's the sentiment that cracks me up. It's not a representation of you, unless he's your family or from your neighborhood or something. Some people think just cuz fighter is the same color as them, it somehow means they have the same attributes or something. If you could fight you would...it aint you lol. Pro fighters in the game respect all guys who can fight, regardless of race cuz they recognize these other guys have what it takes. It's just clowns on forums and youtube that try to divide em up.I wish people would just be real and say, "Yea, so what? I like him because hes a representation of me".
I don't know why that is so hard to admit. Of course many of us like fighters of different races and nationalities, but there are some we like just because they are like us. But then there are some who are like us, and we can't stand. For example, in my case, victor ortiz.Comment

I don't care who you root for. If you show more affinity for people of your race, cool. I care who you do NOT root for. If you don't like a black fighter just because he's black, that's a big problem to me.
This is a boxing forum, not a nationality/ethnicity forum. Appreciate the sport and all fighters in it or GTFO.Comment

You don't come to watch or follow boxing to care about what a fighter does in his own time. Most of these guys have dirty laundry anyway, just some have it less publicised.... I remember in that Rocky Marciano thread there was a guy that thought Rocky was a family guy and a role model which is laughable.
So at the end of the day are you a fight fan or a lost little kid looking for a hero?Comment
