Longtime trainer Burns not in Taylor's corner

not sure if this was discussed yet:

Burns is OUT, Steward is solely IN

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Middleweight champion Jermain Taylor is training without Patrick Burns, who was expected to be part of a two-person training team leading up to next month's fight against Winky Wright.

Taylor moved his training camp from Miami to Detroit, where new trainer Emanuel Steward is based. Taylor was expected to work with both Steward and Burns, but camp started Monday without Burns.

Ozell Nelson, Taylor's amateur coach, had said last month both trainers would work together. He now says Burns was left out because having two trainers could have been too distracting for Taylor.

"I wish Jermain well. I certainly want him to win this fight," Burns said from Miami. "I'm going to keep busy, but I will be rooting for Jermain."

Taylor, who is from Little Rock, is 25-0 heading into the June 17 fight with Wright in Memphis, Tenn. Burns has been Taylor's trainer throughout his pro career.

*great, another excuse for Taylor fans..

Bad move by Taylor's team. I was 99% sure that Taylor will beat your man Winky, now I'm only 98% sure.

personally, i think taylor would beat him. he's just too strong and athletic for winky. i don't think winky is carrying 160 well either.

late changes and changing trainers like this makes it tougher on a fighter, whether they'll admit it or not. i think taylor should've made the switch with a lesser opponent, working with someone new and working on new things before a big fight isnt a recipe for success. it usually ends up with the fighter losing. just ask brewster, i think that he was more focused on working well with mcgirt instead of fucusing on his conditioning and gased easy in the fight with lyakhovich. also he changed a couple of things in his game that he was trying to workout during the fight instead of having a real game plan and sticking to his fundamentals......
all in all making a change before a fight of this kind of improtance i think is ****** and very risky. although taylor going with steward i think is a good choice, just not at this time. who knows though, i could be wrong...............but i'm pretty secure with my observation.
