There have been robberies in every Olympics.
Watch Khytrov-Ogogo and Savon-Joshua from 2012. Neither fight was even close, but the home UK boxer was given the win.Comment

Look its 2016, lets stay in the present. I agree with Conlan about the judging in this Olympics. Seeing this thread makes his charges even more valid.Comment

that's an exaggeration
the only really egregious ones were tischenko (russia) over russo and levit, nikitin (russia) over butdee and conlan, harutyunyan (germany) over biyarslanov and gozgec, and the azeri pair, shakhsuvarly and mamishzada, over the kazakh pair, alimkhanuly and sattibayev
of course, one robbery is too many, but the vast majority of decisions in the tournament were correct or at least understandable
i've seen some people cite akhmadaliev's decision over yeraliyev and giyasov's decision over iglesias as robberies, but to me they were close fights with no clear winner (i'd personally lean towards akhmadaliev and iglesias but can see arguments for both ways). tulaganov over castillo was probably the worst decision that went in favour of an uzbek, but he redeemed himself in the next round with a clear win over abdullayev
however, the kazakhs do seem to have been disproportionately victims of these dodgy or close decisions, so they have a right to feel a little aggrieved. with a little more luck they might've been #1 instead of uzbekistanComment

Usbekistan deserved those medals, except for one gold which perhaps should have been a silver (I thought the Kazakh edged the Uzbek in a close fight).
There were definitely some bad decisions in the 2016 Olympics though.
Levit beat Tishchenko clearly, I hope he turns pro ASAP. Hrgović clearly beat Yoka, no one is talking much about that one.
I thought Joyce edged Yoka, not really a robbery.
But Conlan is just a crybaby. He lost a close fight.Comment

Yeah Tunney, Conlan lost so bad that Nitkin was too hurt (really afraid IMO) to fight Shakur Stevenson.Comment

you can really just pin it down to russia, germany and azerbaijan. maybe tony yoka too
no need to discount uzbekistan's excellent tournament
actually i think it had more to do with the huge gash on the side of his head that he sustained from a headbutt in his opening boutComment
