Comments Thread For: Brook: Beating Golovkin Makes Me The Pound For Pound Best!

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) is looking to outdo a lot of his countrymen. When Brook captured his world title in 2014, by traveling to the United States to win a twelve round decision over Shawn Porter - a lot of the British fans were excited over his world title achievement.

I don't know about p4p best, but his rank would certainly skyrocket. I imagine some would claim GGG was overrated. I think Golovkin is the real deal, and a win would speak volumes about Brook for me. It would say more about him than GGG. Ultimately, the winner of Kovalev-Ward is #1 for me though. I will say this however, Brook no doubt has perhaps the biggest sack since Jake Lamotta.

If Brook wins, he would be in the same company as Rigo, Chocolatito, Lomachenko, Canelo, Pacquiao, Kovalev, and Ward. I still think if Ward beats Kovalev, he's # 1.

Interesting comment that if Brook beats GGG then GGG will be seen to have been overrated. Its true in many ways.

The GGG we expect doesn't lose to Brook, no matter how good Brook is on the night - so if he does lose, its not the GGG we expected, de facto overrated as GGG wasn't what we though he was.

It's not like Hagler getting beat by Leonard, where suddenly we all say Hagler was overrated - it was just a good performance by a Leonard on the night that we knew could pull it out (albeit timing being right with Hagler starting to slide even before the Mugabi fight).

GGG isn't on the slide; Brook is no Leonard. Brook would have to look like Leonard on the night for us all to be focusing on what Brook had vs what GGG was missing. Not going to happen.

If Brook won this fight having moved up two weights to beat the guy no can stand up to the power of at 160 if say he would be no.1, yet it ain't gonna happen. As far as I am concerned he hasn't even a punchers chance, because I've seen legitimate 160 fighters who crack like bastards fail to hurt GGG.

Brook is not winning this fight unless he brings an RPG to the ring with him. It's a shyt fight, another glorified mismatch worse than the Lemieux fight. Anyone championing this as competitive is a fool or is taking whoever they are trying to convince as fools.

What will happen is that if Brook beats Golovkin then half of GGG's fans will turn on him and say he was overrrated.

The way I see it, if he gets lucky and that is a big if, he takes the belt back to Sheffield and milks it into the sunset.

He's right, it would make him pfp best, alongside the winner of Kova/Ward.

if he loses to brook then he must have been overrated

i'd still be a fan because i like his style and personality but it's the truth
