You should check out the pre olympics series of articles on ********* about corruption in AIBA. In it the writer details what he calls the Magnificent Seven. Seven AIBA r&j's who are put higher than everyone else (5 star certified instead of the normal 3) - Of the judges named to have been thrown out, ALL seven of the highest decorated AIBA judges are among them, in fact they make up the vast majority. The "coincidence" that these judges were pointed out by a journalist as a problem BEFORE the Olympics aside, it would seem to be a very ironic situation that AIBA has to pull out the judges that they themselves had put on a piedestal as the best available, because of controversial scoring in the Olympics. I have been to a couple of the qualifying events for Rio, and things were even worse there.

My hope is that the media will not let up on this situation until it drastic measures are taken to correct things for the better of the sport and to give boxers just decisions in the future.

No. Russell and Conlan had very close fights, when you can give rounds to either side. Tischenko Levit was a clear robbery though.

Good post. Interesting info about some of these refs and judges. And disturbingly not a shock or anything, just f#cked up the level of corruption in boxing keeps getting pushed forward.

In Russel's fight the opponent had to be admonished for not fighting yet somehow he wins anyway. Conlan was clearly robbed.

I know corruption is a way of life for many Eastern Euros but we don't want that mentality to spread to the West any more than it already has.

These two fights were very close. It's a very common thing that in a close fight the win can go to either fighter.
If you talk about corruption you should remember that two most corrupt countries in boxing are Germany and Great Britain, from west
