This isn't hard to figure out at all. By the time GGG was a name worth risking it was late 2013 and 2014. GGG wasn't much of a draw for the non-fight fan before then. Heck, he didn't even fight in the US until late 2012. There was no fight to be made until GGG became a draw. That was 2014.

Ward's last fight at 168 was in late 2013 and then he didn't fight again until 2015 because he was feuding with his manager (Goossen). When he came back Ward was already fighting at 172 pound catch-weights and then at 175 in 2015. Goossen didn't die until late 2014.

So there never really was a window for these guys to fight. By the time GGG was a big enough draw to even consider fighting, Ward was feuding with Goossen and not fighting. When Ward came back, he was 2 weight classes above GG and couldn't have made the weight.

No one ducked anyone. No one was scared of anyone. The timing simply didn't work.

You can't duck someone in a different weight class.

        GGG was all talk.

Canelo actually walked the walk. He fought from 154 to 168.

Speaking as a huge GGG fan, even us die hards knew Ward would've schooled him in the ring. Doesn't take away from the fact that GGG's a superstar in his own right, and he's naturally the much smaller guy, so moot point.

I feel like u cant duck sumbody outside your division...But yea GGG wanted no parts of Ward.. But it was smart why move up fight p4p #1 Ward when u have the cash cow at 160lb. Get the money first be great second.

But Golovkin criticized Canelo for being a businessman, not idol of boxing.

In the end it seems like he was really no better himself. What a hypocrite.

                Uh.. yeah, speak for yourself.
I have no problems maintaining that Golovkin vs. Ward would have been extremely competitive, and I'd place the bet on Golovkin. Ward struggled the most against Kovalev when Kov was throwing jabs. Golovkin's jab is better than both of them. He's also much more technical than Kovalev, and more importantly, knows how to close out the fight when his opponent is on the ropes. The only ones he had difficutly with are counter punchers with significant power who can make him pay. Kovalev on the other hand, always lets his opponents out of the corners because he's not comfortable with it.
Yeah, Ward's bigger and would try to muscle him around. But so far, Golovkin did not give anyone a reason to doubt his stamina.

As for this thread.. why not let bullsht of 2015 stay in 2015? You can resurrect it all you want, it will still be bullsht.

Ward is way bigger, and can tie him up, and pound his body all night. Also, GGG is not mobile at all, and until the Nelo rematch, ****** at fighting off his backfoot. Ward would've bullied him all night.

Oh yeah, and at SMW, GGG would've have been the same killer. Just look at how Nelo could deal with his shots, now imagine a guy that would take way less shots, while fighting an even more grueling style of fight. GGG would've been broken down within 5 rounds.

                      If GGG ducked Ward...

                      Manny ducked Canelo
                      Floyd ducked Sergio Martinez
                      Loma ducked Manny

All these guys mentioned fighting these guys but didnt...It was optional...Extra credit!
