Need to fully appreciate what is happening here. Saunders squeaked by Lee and knows full well he would definitely lose to GGG, probably lose to any other top middleweight, and high risk of losing to any seasoned fighter like Rosado.

He's got the belt and can basically sell it to the highest bidder, which is Canelo. He won't risk losing the belt by fighting anyone else, or he loses the Canelo payday.

1) Saunders won't fight anyone before Canelo
2) Canelo is guaranteed to fight Saunders with the belt on the line (and win, bye bye Saunders with big fat check in his pocket)

This sets up Canelo with the only belt GGG doesn't have, which equals greater negotiating power in the purse split between the two if and when GGG v Canelo happens (and to negotiate a weight that suits Canelo more than GGG).

I agree with everything except the bold.

Team Golovkin will not negotiate on the weight.

They have had so many chances to negotiate on the weight, including 2 official negotiations..... nothing will change next time.

Unbelievably, it is up to Canelo to make that fight.

That fight will either happen after Canelo moves to 160, or not at all.

The WBO belt is NOT Team Golovkin's main goal, Hopkins record for successful defences is their main goal..... they will walk away from a potential Canelo fight again, just like they did the last 2x, and just like they did with Ward.
