I still favor Kovalev but this isn't true and it is the trap fans fall into when they pick punchers. Kovalev tagged Chilemba way more than once, including a perfect shot to the head, and he got up and survived the rest of the fight. Kovalev destroyed Cleverley in 3 rounds with 3 knockdowns I believe but he got up the first two times, and took about 5-10 clean shots each time before he went down. He caught Hopkins multiple times and knocked him down only once. And so on. How many times did he have to tag Pascal clean before he fell?

Kovalev will have to tag Ward perfect once, or good multiple times in a round, to knock him down, let alone KO him. So it won't be that easy. It's hard to tag Ward good multiple times in a round. However I still pick Kovalev because can still wear Ward down to the body, and keep Ward from throwing by pumping the jab regularly. The jab won't knock Ward down unless Ward walks into it, but it will buzz Ward and keep him extremely gunshy. Kovalev just has to use his length to keep scoring points on Ward, points that will sting a lot more than Ward's shots sting Kovalev, keeping Ward extremely defensive and unable to attack to win rounds. Much like Kovalev-BHop, just not quite as dominant. Then whenever Ward opens up, Kovalev should swing back to and at least get a body shot in. Then Ward won't be opening up so much anymore after that.

That's how I see it. But to think Kovalev is going to KO Ward with one shot is unlikely. He's not fast enough to really surprise Ward and get that one perfect shot in. Ward getting KO'd with one shot is much more likely against Stevenson which is why Ward ducked Stevenson and will never fight him.

It will be a learning fight for Kovalev. Kovie will come to destroy Ward while Ward will come to the ring to avoid Kovalev. Ward on a decision as the crowd boos Ward. It's all about money anyway. neither fighter is a draw with little fan support.
Fred you know Kovalev was sick verse Chilemba? And he nearly knocked chilemba out mid fight, dropped his ass. Not to mention it was his first fight in a long time back home in front of his fans. Chilemba has never been knocked out and he makes everyone who fights him look bad. I can guarantee if Kovalev fought Chilemba 100% he'd be the first to KO him like he did verse Pascal twice!

          Ward got this ^^

A very frustrating night at the office for Kovalev and Jackson.

I agree Stevenson is a harder style for Ward and that's why if Ward actually beat Kovalev, he would duck Stevenson again and probably try to milk the Kov win for the next five years fighting the 50th ranked cruiserweight and 200th ranked heavyweight talking about how great he is the whole time.

Kovalev on the other hand has already made offers to Stevenson, Beterbiev, Hopkins, and now Ward. He has literally tried to fight every top guy in the division. Ward has never, and will never, do that. Most the duckers in this era have never, and will never, do that. Ward ducked Bute and Dirrell at 168, and he will duck Stevenson and Beterbiev at 175 if he gets past Kovalev, which for the sake of the sport and the light heavyweight division, we can only hope he doesn't.
Ward wants careful fights if possible and Stevenson is a tougher fight for Ward than Kovie. Ward and Kovalev and Stevenson cannot get any big money fights as fans do not like them. Kovalev is an easier fight for Ward and in Vegas not in Canada. I hope Kovalev KO's Ward and Stevenson. Not sure that can happen.

Kovalev is a tough fighter but so crude and raw and awkward. Sick is a poor excuse for a champion and fighting at home should be a bonus. Ward will win a decision in Vegas. It's America and Americans hate Commies.

I will tell you what Fred. I am a white male from the US and I would never, ever, in a million years support a black fighter over a white one, regardless of if he's from the US. I hope Kovalev whoops Wards a-s. BLacks are the most violent racists on the planet!
