props to HBO for standing up to arum.

unfortunately, i think ward - kovalev will still do less buys. i really hope i'm wrong about that. i'll be happy if they even get in the ring, frankly.

but yes, this is a pathetic fight.

only way this fight is forgiven in the future is if pacquiao eventually fights crawford or the floyd rematch happens.
I thought Vargas looked solid versus Ali, but there's always a better choice and that would've been Crawford. I think the ultimate goal has always been getting Floyd again, if that doesn't happen, there may be chance of a Crawford bout. But with Manny cutting ties with HBO, I would assume that makes a possible Floyd rematch a little more likely.

Once it was Vargas and HBO wasn't doing it, he killed the fight calling it a cash grab and then topping thta by saying Manny was taking the lesser fight for less money, completely contradicting what he said previously.
To be contradictory would be for him to say, Pac-Vargas is better than Pac-Crawford, now that the Vargas fight is signed. If anything, he's being consistent.

Max is a boxing fan, he has his own opinion, he saw Manny take on challenges throughout his career and he was half-hoping, half-convinced that he would again. So he was wrong. He's still allowed to speak his opinion in regards to Pac-Vargas. I surely don't think his overall opinion of Manny Pacquiao the fighter will change because he chose to fight Vargas at 38 years of age.

I don't think he has to say just that. You have to watch both segments. His body language, the tone. The difference is clear.

Max is an HBO employee. He is going to toe the company line. I am not suggesting he changed his opinion of the fighter drastically. Maybe he was just perturbed or disappointed that Manny picking Vargas made Max look bad after everything he said previously.

Maybe Max was critical of the fight because it's not on HBO and since its not Manny becomes a free agent.

We'll see if it was him calling it like it was or if it was him attacking another non-HBO fighter. The way we can tell the difference is if he apologizes. The last time he told it like it was was after the Mayweather fight when Pacquiao said he won and Kellerman questioned how Pacquiao could think that. He even said Manny did the right thing by fighting injured for the money, aka a cash grab. So he was ok with Manny fighting a cash grab against Floyd but now that Manny isn't an HBO fighter he's not ok with this cash grab?

I don't understand why people are so sensitive about this, it's just an opinion, it's not a matter of right or wrong. Unless you have a previous gripe with Max, I don't see how anything he said was so hurtful. And when you say, "we," I'm not even sure what he's supposed to apologize for.

Don't change the subject. It's clear as day that Max is an HBO lapdog. He was forced to apologize the last time he told it like it is after the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. And in his apology he justified Pac going for the cash grab. But suddenly it's wrong for Pac to go after a cash grab? Where was the criticism from Max when Pacquiao took the Bradley fight nobody wanted to see? That was a cash grab too. It's announced that the fight isn't on HBO and suddenly Max says it's a cash grab. Naw, I was born at night but not last night.

Berto would destroy Vargas, Vargas has one good win, just one and it was against a over hyped prospect Saddam Ali
